Statement of Welcome and Inclusion
First Presbyterian Church of Soda Springs is a community of various backgrounds and beliefs united by our love of Jesus Christ, our care for one another, and our passion for our community. We affirm that all people are created in the image of God, that all people are of sacred worth, and that Christ died for all people. God’s radically inclusive love excludes no one. To that end, we believe God calls us to welcome all people without exception including, but not limited to, peoples of different ages, races, ethnicities, nationalities, gender identities, sexual orientations, family or socioeconomic status, education, political views, physical or mental abilities, faith history, or life experience.
We celebrate the diversity of God’s creation and believe it enriches our community. This is a safe place to disagree on important matters while remaining united in Christ’s love. Our faith perspectives, theology, and biblical interpretations may differ, but we covenant to accept, respect, and love one another on our faith journeys. No matter who you are or where you’re from, you are always welcome here.
We affirm the right of all to worship, serve, and fully participate in the life and ministry of First Presbyterian and everyone is welcome to join in the membership of our congregation. We affirm the right of all members to answer God’s call to serve as elders and deacons.
We are committed to making First Presbyterian a safe and welcoming space for all, including friends and neighbors of other faith traditions. We welcome interfaith dialogue and diverse learning, believing all interactions are guided by the Spirit that created the world. While we personally find Jesus Christ to be our pathway to God, we encourage all discussions that celebrate God’s goodness, grace, and glory. - Approved by Session 1/9/25
